Can both xp boxes see each other on the network? You go into control panel, system and you can give name of computer and group name. The group name has to be the same across the network or it won't be seen.

It's not working for me --
I created a shared folder -- shared documents of course -- and created a
workgroup on my xp machine -- I don't remember the steps... Anyway, I went
to the windows7 box to network places and the list of machines included the
windows 7 box itself, my mother's vista machine, a machine called "unknown"
and something else I don't remember.
I have 2 xp machines, "baseclef" and "trebleclef" and baseclef has files and
a printer and embosser that I want shared with everyone else. But it
doesn't show up.
Any pointers?
Thx.

You might be able to do a restore and get it back.
Now all I did on my xp box was share the folders I wanted on the
network, and the vista and windows7 box saw them right off. i opened
a shared folder on the vista and window7 box and now my mac sees all
3 ops on the network..
