Have you tried installing visual basic runtime sp6? I've ever encountered
such a problem and till now, I'm not very sure what the cause of it was. I
fixed it by installing troopanum 2 (or if u've already installed it, try
reinstalling). Good luck!

Already turned off, but thanks. I also tried to run the apps as admin,
which did not work, and this is my own machine, so I know there is nothing
odd about my account permissions.
