compiling Audacity from source

dear list members,
I must first apologise, because a skilled programmer could do a task like
this with ease, but my programming skills currently stop next some pascal,
so they are almost next to nothing.
I'm having trouble with compiling audacity. I haven't given it even a try
yet, but I see the process itself quite complicated. If anyone of you has
compiled audacity in very recent times, because they changed the compiling
system a few months ago, then could I request some help from you?
The reason why I'm trying to compile audacity, is because I want to
integrate the asio support into that and I need to compile the program from
source.
