I found out last night that dvi to serial probably can't be done since a
high frequency digital signal has to be converted to a signal an rs232
serial connection can use. The technician I talked with last night told
me he doesn't know if the DVI standard has ever been defined and written
down anywhere yet too. Probability for now is we can't yet get there
from here yet. It may be possible to do the necessary signal transforms
using a small microprocessor on the cable though provided one could be
correctly programmed though.
