The lynx browser is also quite useable in the mac environment provided you're not afraid of the mac terminal and its command line. The fink repository has it ready and available for download. -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chris Hofstader Sent: Friday, April 02, 2010 17:13 To: programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: empower@xxxxxxxxx; JAWSScripts@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: best browser? Sadly, for accessibility there is no single "best browser" out there. My guess would be IE but that also depends upon which screen access tool you will be using with it. For instance, Firefox 3.6 works well on Windows with JAWS and NVDA. Firefox 3.5 works great with orca on GNU/Linux systems but 3.6 breaks in a bunch of places with orca. Safari is the only solution worth a poop on Macintosh where Firefox is completely inaccessible. So, use testing tools, remediate the pages and report any subsequent findings of failure to the browser and AT vendors. cdh On Apr 2, 2010, at 3:52 PM, Jim Stevenson wrote: > Hi > > What is the most speech friendly browser, > ie, firefox, or something else? > > -- > > Please answer in plain text, not mime attached html. > > Thanks much again as always. > Jim > __________ > View the list's information and change your settings at > //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind > __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind
