The general pattern that has been observed over and over in many
online communities is the 90/9/1 rule. That is, 90% of people only
read; 9% contribute a little; only 1% contribute significantly. (See
http://www.useit.com/alertbox/participation_inequality.html) Don't be
surprised or disappointed if this group matches that pattern; it's
normal. The advantage of a wiki is that it removes the gatekeeper, so
that someone other than the originator of the site *can* maintain the
content if needed.
Of course, somebody still needs to be responsible for hosting the site
and keeping up the domain name. If that person drops the ball or goes
missing, you can still end up screwed (as happened with the previous
domain name).
