I'm not sure I understand this question at all.

Take care,

You know, my friend was telling me about those types of books, and he was
wondering if there's a way to read them in their native
format (for I prefer keeping documents in their original format when possible),
on a PC accessibly. Is Edsharp's conversion feature
there because there simply isn't a way since Epub's an iPOD format? Or is it?

Hi John,
I do not know much about this area, myself, but someone shared the following
info:

The EPub which the Calibre library supports is probably version 2.
Things are going to be quite different under EPub 3, which is slated to become
the distribution format endorsed by the Daisy
Consortium some time next year. Information about the draft version of EPub 3
is available on the web page of the International
Digital Publishing Forum,
