Hmm, this might have some possibilities, and above all, it could be very simple to implement though I've pretty much run out of USB slots.

Depends on the program you're using, if winamp, turn on the equalizer and just use the volume up until that pre amp volume is cranked, or 1 below cranked and then use the arrow up and down buttons to adjust the volume to your liking. The best idea though is use 2 sound cards. 1 for jaws, the other for everything else. Much cheater than an external synth and just as good if not better.
