I don't think you do.  I also agree with your statement that natural
language isn't always the most efficient form of communication.

It's funny that you should mention Robert Stevens.  I was just over at a
social event in the department and was talking to someone from the graphics
group.  They just had a project rejected by the EPSRC, which is the UK
equivalent to the NSF, and they were partnering with the University of
Manchester on the bid.  It turns out that one of the investigaters on
included in the proposal was Robert Stevens.
