the lines should read this way:
1. Open up jaws script manager by pressing insert +0
2. Press control+shift+d to
open up default.jss.
3. Press control+f to bring up the find dialogue.
4. Type in "command shells", without the quotes, and press enter.
5. Press escape to get out of the find dialogue.
6. Down arrow until you hear " If (TheClass == cwcTTY".
7. Down arrow one more time so you hear one of the "vertical bar vertical bar"
lines, Hit home and hit enter.
8. type the following: || TheClass == "putty"
** Make sure to read the above line carefully, as there are two vertical lines,
known as pipe symbols, in there.
9. After you have copied that line to the script file, or typed it in, hit
control+s to save, Then hit alt+f4 to exit the script manager

Hi Brent,
I know that "edit" is incorrect. That's because I forgot to tell you to log
onto your UNIX or Linux session before you go through the process of getting
the value. Sina sent a message that had the right value in a piece of code
sometime last week. I can't get to the list archives from here because they're
blocked by security. If I could, I would get that piece of code and tell you to
paste it in the line that has "edit."

Thanks.

Thank You Jim and everyone who helped me with this.
When I went back into default.jss and did the paste it put Edit in side the
double quotes. Is this correct? It now reads:

 If (TheClass == cwcTTY
 || TheClass == "Edit"

 || TheClass == cwcTTYGrab
 || TheClass == cwcTelnetW

Is this correct. Then when I did ctrl+s the computer beeped and said it
compiled.
How do you test to make sure the script is working properly?
Thanks

Hi Brent,
Once you hit Control F1, hit Insert Windows minus to get back out of that
situation. Then go over to script manager and keep going with the instructions.

When I go into putty and hit insert + Windows key + minus key on the num pad it
says "script utility mode on".
I then hit f3 until I get to class.
Is this correct so far?
I then hit control + f1 and it says "copy selection to clipboard edit" but it
puts me into a Windows update that I cannot get out of without rebooting.
It says "windows update and you can arrow to 1 2 3 4 5 etc. it also says all,
some, more, most or no characters. I am stuck in this until I reboot. I
cannot seem to get back to the script to paste. What am I doing wrong?
Also if I hit ins+windows+space bar it does not do anything.

For 9 yes run putty from your shortcut.
for 10 the keystroke to activate homerow mode was quoted incorrectly
for Jaws 11. the correct keystroke is insert + windows key plus the
minus key on the number pad.

I have putty downloaded and installed but still have some questions on
setting up accessibility.
On 9. go into putty.
Does this mean hit enter on the shortcut and open the application?
10. if you have JAWS 11 hit insert+windows+spacebar.
What does this do? I tried it and cannot get it to work. Am I in the
wrong place?
11. hit f3 until you here it say class.
Again is this in the application after you open it?
12. Press ctrl+f1.
What does this do?
I think I am missing something here and need some help.
Thanks.

Hi,
This one belongs in the FAQ, because it comes up from time to time.

1. Open default.jss in Script Manager.
2. Find the SayNonHighlightedText event. You can do that with Control L
for the script list and scroll, then Enter.
3. Look for the line that starts If (TheClass == cwcTTY
4. Make a copy of that line on the clipboard
5. Put a blank line below that line.
5. Paste.
6. Change the if to || and delete the (.
7. Go to the word after the == and delete it.
8. Put in an empty pair of double quotes.
9. Go into Putty.
10. If you have JAWS 11, hit Insert Windows Space. If you have JAWS 10
or lower, hit Insert Space.
11. Hit F3 until you hear it say class.
12. Press Control F1.
13. Go back to Script Manager.
14. Put your cursor on the second of the double quotes you put into the
file and paste.
15. Hit Control S to save.
16. You should be good to go.

Putty

You do have to change aline in default.jss, but then it'll be fine.

Take care,
Sina

Subject: SSH and PUTTY Accessibility

I am now on the data warehouse team which is a better match for me. We
are trying to see if we can overcome the accessibility
problems so I can take my turn being on call. Is SSH or Putty more
accessible with JAWS in accessing a LINUX system from windows.
We installed SSH 3.2 but it is a trial version and I am not sure how
much the commercial version cost or even where to purchase it.
When I try to go to their website most of it is in a different
language. Is PUTTY free or is there also a cost after the trial
version?
I appreciate any information anyone has on these issues.
I am using JAWS 11.0 on Windows XP.
