Susie,

We are moving toward SAP where I work, although it doesn't involve me directly
yet. However, what I know of it is that it is very big with many modules and
many roles that people can play. For example, there is something that can come
with it called Business Warehouse which I believe is pretty much
accessible by querying data as I understand it. Companies that move completely
to SAP follow a process that can take years. What SAP means to you is
going to be very dependent upon what role they are thinking of you playing.
The time table might also be important to you, as it may not have that much of
an effect on you if you plan to retire within the next couple of years. As I
understand it, though, there are things you can do with it. my advice would be
to
not go to the meeting next week ready to say it is or is not accessible, but
with the idea of finding out what your role will be. It would also be
interesting to
ask if accessibility has been raised with SAP and what they have told your
management since I would guess they are required to pick an accessible vendor
for this. The question is more complicated than "Can one program in SAP," but
that is probably good. Unless they are only using SAP for a very specific
purpose, though, it is going to take a while to implement it so there is time.
It sounds as though we may both have a very good resource in Dorene, and I
am hoping she will chime in here if what I have said is not accurate. Also,
knowing more about what the plans are there is very important.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson
