Adrian,
Firsthand accounts of an applications accessibility in my mind is perfect,
especially when the application's use fits into the subject of this email list.
I don't condone flaming, just honest first hand accounts. This is nothing but
what one person has found on their use of the product.
I benefitted from hearing about Toad, since just this past weekend I downloaded
and tried out the free Toad Mysql client. I did not have any better results
and am still seeking an avenue of communication with Toad to see what can be
done.

If I recall right Oracle's Enterprise Manager web based GUI required the
modification of an attribute in one of the XML config files to make it
"more" accessible. A long time back I remember doing this and find that it
actually made a difference then thinking afterwards how silly it was to
force people to explicity turn accessibility on... if I find the docs which
highlight this aspect I'll pass it along.
BTW, which version of Oracle are you trying to use?
BTW, as for Toad and other offerings like SQLDeveloper, hmmmmm... as this is
a public forum I'll refrain from posting a comment regarding accessibility
on the grounds someone might get really (and I mean really) upset.

I have recently tried both Toad and Enterprise Manager and could not get
around the gui. I have given up for now, but would be delighted to hear from
anyone who has had more success than I had.
SQLPlus is accessible, but the output from a Select wraps around if the
result is greater than the width of the screen. Even my sighted work
colleagues say it is virtually impossible to interpret the output when this
happens.
If you read the web sites of the makers of all of the above they will say
that their software is accessible. They even have documents describing their
VPATs, which are voluntary adherence to accessibility standards. Where is
the independent verification????
