Hi Laura,I don't know what appearance changes you mean. EdSharp does not change general Windows settings. It has its own appearance, which is different than Windows Explorer.
By default, FileDir does not replace Windows Explorer; it is another application that may be launched to manage files and folders. There is an option (not the default) to make FileDir open instead of Windows Explorer whenever one tries to open a folder. For example, if you download a file in IE, there is a button for opening the folder into which the file was placed. Windows Explorer is still on the computer, but not the program that opens if one explicitly chooses this option (a shortcut in the FileDir program group of the Windows Start Menu).
That is the only "gotcha" that comes to mind, and as mentioned, it is not a default setting -- nor an irreversible one. Let me know if there are more questions. Thanks for your interest.

I forget what the default sort order is but there are hotkeys to change it, e.g., Alt+A for Alpha order, Alt+D for date/time order, Alt+S for size order, and Alt+T for type/extension order. Adding a Shift modifer key reverses the order, e.g., Alt+Shift+S is reverse size order, so the largest file appears first. Subfolders are listed before files.
