Hi Dave, At work, I am being asked to provide an accessibility wish list for a new app that is being developed in java. One of the items I would like to put on the list is that all graphics have some kind of textual label that can be detected by JAWS. I don't do GUI programming so I wasn't sure if this was even possible. I mostly write batch processes using perl and sql, so accessibility of my own programs has not been an issue. Thanks, Fred -------------------------------------------------- From: "Dave" <davidct1209@xxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, November 11, 2010 12:26 AM To: <programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Labelling iconsThe long answer is....it depends. Are you the application author? If so, then the answer is yes with varying amounts of effort depending on the type of application in question and the way in which the icon is represented. I know you can label graphics using JAWS, but that is not what I am asking. I guess what I am asking is is there some kind of text property that can be added to a graphic that JAWS can detect and speak automatically without using JAWS itself to label the graphic? I don't need to know how todo it, I just want to know if it is possible.
