OK. Well, for now, I'll just put it in my notes that you may have to use the 
imports directive to get it to work. I'll keep going on the write-up and maybe 
when or if I uncover what's going on, revise later.

Don't bet the farm on that, unless you find that approach documented as
working somewhere on the web.  I have a feeling the minds at 1 Microsoft

Visualbasic express is a hugely chopped down piece of crippleware as
compared to visualbasic.  Part of the crippling Microsoft did was to
require the import statement on the crippleware version which isn't
required on their $$$$ version.  That's the explanation.

Hi,
I'm sure that's possible. Here's what I know.

* This machine is XP.
* That machine is Vista.
* This machine doesn't have Visual Basic Express on it.
* That one does.
* Both machines have EdSharp.
* According to my memory, EdSharp installs The .Net 2.0 SDK if a machine
doesn't have it.
* The command line for the compiler is the same on both machines as far
as I remember.

What else should I check when comparing the two computers to see what's
up?

Might you have different flavors of vb on those two machines?  Or might
you have the two machines configured differently?

Hi People,

I'm writing the first lesson of Jim's Vb.net notes, and I already have a
question about how something works. I'm trying to be accurate in my
explanation of what you automatically get when you compile a program.
Here's why I'm having trouble figuring this out. When I create the hello
world program on this computer, I don't have to use any statements to
import any libraries. When I take the same program home, I have to use
an imports statement. How do I figure out why this is happening?
