This needs to go to FS not to this list they need to hear this stuff. They
say they are working on it but I have heard nothing from them. When I am at
CSUN this week I am going to try to hunt them down and bug them.

Ken

Subject: Cygwin and JAWS 11 on Windows 7

Hi Ken (and other cygwin users on this list.)

I've been switching back and forth between Cygwin and a virtual machine
running Linux.
I need to access Linux servers from Windows both for web development and
system administration.

I have now decided to go back to Cygwin.
Everything works as expected on Windows XP.

Currently the most annoying issues on Windows 7 regarding Cygwin is the
speech problems.
I understand that FS are working to solve this?

I also discovered another big issue for me.
I use the "virtualize window" feature to open the text in the cygwin console
so that I can easily copy/paste the text.
I need this feature all the time to do my job.
When I press jaws+alt+w to virtualize the console window the output in the
virtual viewer is trashed.
The commands and output don't appear as expected.
It's a mess!

An example:

embla:~$ ls graphic 192 bin Mail sent www
embla:~$ graphic 545

Expected output:

embla:~$ ls
bin Mail sent www
embla:~$

When reviewing the output in the cygwin window with my Braille display the
text appear as expected.
That's also the case when using the JAWS cursor to review the cygwin console
window.

This issue also occurs in cmd.exe and powershell.exe without cygwin even
running.
So both problems are related to JAWS, Win 7 and cmd.exe and powershell.exe.

I can of course edit the output after copying it from the virtual viewer,
but with more complex commands and output it's not very efficient.

Do you think that the speech and the virtual viewer problems are related?
Do you know a person at FS I can contact regarding this?

This is very important to me, especially when we'll migrate to Windows 7 at
work.
