because c++ is not the same as c++.net. you don't just write something in c++, then compile it to use the CLR.

If you ask me though, you should use C# unless you need to work with MAPI or

don't understand how I confused you by saying that using Microsoft compiler in
VS 2010 and then compiling with the CLR option was confusing because it just
gives C++ the features of the CLR such as garbage collection and memory
management.

Yeah. I was kind of wondering what you were talking about. I don't know what an
c++.net is, I don't know a lot of stuff. I'm just a beginner programmer.

First, you said you can use microsoft's. I assumed you were talking
about .net, or you don't know what clr is. Second, what are these "clr"
enhancements you speak of?

How is that misinformation? Visual C++ is what I meant, I was just
too lazy to say it. And how does that not have CLR enhancements? I
don't see how I'm wrong there, but I'll go away now and you can yell
at me later on if you'd like when I'm not at work. How's that?

Hello:
Glad to see you're getting going with c++, it's a rather nice language.
Anyway, as for compilers the best I've found on Windows is visual c++.
You can get the 2008 or 2010 edition free, if you get visual studio
express. As for books and guides, I recommend thinking in c++, by
bruce eckel. If you google it, you'll find that the books are free.
I'm throwing in my contact info if you use msn/aim/skype and have
further questions or just run into a problem.

Hey there. My name is Edgar. Does anybody know where I can find C++
getting started guides and tutorials? I also want to know what kinds
of compilers that different people use that are accessible with any
screen reader.
Thank you.
