Activating Visual C++ Express

Hi Listers,
I have downloaded and installed Visual C++ Express, and am now trying to get it
working.
I have successfully obtained a registration key. When I run the program, it
presents a field into which I can paste this key. But the only available
choice is “Close”, and when I click it the program closes. When I run it again
the same thing happens.
Could some one familiar with these express versions offer a suggestion about
what is wrong?
