Well while you haven't found the holy grail you have found the easiest
example of how to make it work for the time being. I have seen stuff like
this but they are always cluttered with real life examples and to much code
this is down and dirty and easy.

Subject: Accessible ajax web page

Hi Ken and others,

Ken had asked about an accessible ajax web page. A wonderful friend of mine,
Lisa Papas, provided the following.

This is hardly complicated or anythingg along those lines. It simply is a
good tutorial on writing this stuff. I know what Ken is looking for, but
that site, I have yet to find.

This is the link to the background, but there's a link to the working demo
(labeled demo) there.

Take care,
Sina
