Does Video On Demand require my IP Host to be running a special server to run FLV Videos? I have seen mention of servers to work with Flash but in many articles use of a special server is not mentioned.

Any example of using Flash Video like flv, on an asp website you know of?
Silverlight is so piecemeal I am having more trouble trying to get a handle on how it works than including flash in an asp website. Any example of either would help. Perhaps even an on demand audio player might give me some more clues on how to narrow my googling.

Good morning Rick,

There is a lot of good information online about Silverlight and Flash accessibility

To start for Silverlight see:

For information on Flash accessibility see:

Everett

Thanks Everet:
I have been reading. It sounds like I would need to use a Flash Media Player or Silverlight on a Webpage to play videos. At least that is how AOL Videos and HULU Videos seem to be played and there is documentation on Flash and Silverlight. I do not understand much of it yet and looking for a good overview and examples of using each to try and understand the process better. Thanks again as I would, of course, like to make it accessible so I can use it myself.

Good evening Rick,

FYI: Silverlight is technically accessible. Not sure what all is involved in ensuring that your application is accessible or that the assistive technology on the other end can bridge to it.

I know that there is a UIA to MSAA bridge that allows ATs such as JAWS to access Silverlight, but I'm not sure how the bridge is installed, perhaps it's installed as part of dotNet 3.5.

Everett

Hi:
I want to add Audio and Video to my ASP (VWD)2008 flavor Website. I have read about a UploadFile Control. Would this be good for uploading songs recorded by homegrown bands and music videos by them? The files might get large if the video runs 10 minutes or more. Do most digital camras allow for a file extension that would run with MediaPlayer or will that be a problem? If you know of any example code creating a site that allows uploading and playing of client music and videos, especially in vb, could you let me know? I am just starting to research this topic so any pointers might help me further my reading before I try and work with A/V files under my VWD and ASP.net setup. I am avoiding Silverlight as I heard it was not very accessible but that was some time ago and would appreciate any comments if this might be a good way to go as well.
Thanks:
Rick USA
