I just think when you're starting out, having some close guidance &
lots of successes is important. You especially don't get that w/c++.
Python's fine, but there are a lot of parts to put together to make an
interface. W/Quorum, it's all just there. & there are good teaching
materials besides. Once you get a language under your belt, then it
makes learning others so much easier.

I believe, and it is just my believe, that C or C++ are very flexible. It
depends on what we call flexible. For me flexible is that I am able to do as
much as I want from the point of view that at this level, I am able to
handle performance and resources in the way how I want. Yes, it is harder
since on C or C++ you need to be very specific about everything. However, I
think that it is like building something from scratch or buying the prebuilt
parts to be able to make something. For example, if I buy blocks and sand,
and wood, and I start to make my home. It would be exactly as I want it. If
I buy the dry wall, and prebuilt parts, I also have my home. However, it
will be according with the standards of the industry or likes of someone
else.
In the first case, my home could be more expensive and require a longer
time. However, it will be exactly how I wanted it.
It is just my opinion.

It is made with beginners in mind, it is targeted at blind people, and it
has a gaming tutorials track if I remember correctly. I don't know if it
makes it better choice, but at least it is not a bad recommendation.

about Lucia game engine that supposedly is a more modern alternative
to BGT, but I never found any documentation on using it. If I were
to switch to a mainstream language, I would run into multiple
questions and problems I do not know how to resolve.
I would appreciate recommendations on the best programming language
to write the types of games I am seeking to write. I was advised to
try C++, but after reading some of the lessons from C++ tutorial I
am concerned about its lack of flexibility. Even generating a
pseudo-random number involves workaround. I would be interested in
your views in regard to strengths of different languages. And
regardless of the language chosen for the project, the questions
still remain:
What is better - a compiled language or an interpreted one?
If it is interpreted, how do I make a stand-alone program file or an
installer?
How do I pass keystrokes to the program, the way BGT keyboard
constants did?
How do I load and play sounds?
And one of the most important problems:
You can create, for example, a card class and generate its
instances, but how do you make a card into an element of interface
rather than an abstract concept? The card lives in your program,
with its properties and attributes, with all the logic you are
building around it, but how do you make it a program option, so you
can focus on it and press a key to draw it, or to discard it, etc.?
This is a conundrum even blind-centered BGT never addressed.
I would appreciate your thoughts on these matters. Thanks in advance.
