fun fact: I just looked at the source code of Hedy and  looks like it was
done in Python. At least the server side part.

Hello everybody: I just found out there is a "gradual" programming
language called Hedy aimed at people learning to code. Its syntax is very
easy and it has online lessons to learn and in the advanced lessons you
start to learn more advanced syntax that is actually similar to python. So.
By the time you end learning Hedy you are ready to take on a full course in
Python. At least that is the idea.

Check it at  https://opensource.com/article/21/4/hedy-teach-code  and
share your thoughts

The following is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.
I think for beginners, you need to start with something easy and
something with lots of resources so that you can get answers from simply
googling.
For that reason, I would also recommend Python!
Python has many modules, so you don't have to reinvent the wheels
For example, WXPython are good to create native cross platform UI.
Pyinstaller lets you package your code into executable, so you can
easily distribute.
In my opinion, C and C++ are flexible, but the learning curve is too
steep for beginners. You would need tons of will power and right
guidance. Otherwise beginners would easily give up.
Python is like you start learning how to play baseball by playing right
away, whereas c/c++ you first learn about physics of parabola,
Aerodynamics, and so on before you can go out to the field.

Again, just my two cents.

Hello.
I strongly suggest you to go with Python.
Gabe.
