Ok, first things first.... When you called yesterday in regards to the server I
indicated that you needed to have one installed or configured. That's where I
would start. If at all possible try downloading Tomcat or Jboss.

Secondly insure that you have the Apache Struts Framework.

Hi Jim,

As you can see I have been trying to get your tutorial out. Now, concerning
Struts, what is the first learning activity you would suggest?

Ok,

Where would you like to begin?

We use struts around here, so lets talk about that idea.

HI:

If you are receiving data from your front end then you need to handle basic
validation.

E.G. While using the STRUTS Framework a basic bean would encapsulate the data
with setter methods. Validation such as whether the data has the correct format
or indeed has values aside from the defaults can be preformed here.

If the bean represents a business object then a static method could be evoked
to perform further data manipulation. On the other hand, a service object could
be evoked that would then pass the object off to a storage manager object /
persistence layer which then would perform the necessary work to get your data
into the db.

Give me an example of a business request and lets try to hash it out on this
list.

Jim

Hi Jim,

I find anything to do with HTML quite boring. I am thinking of the layer they
call persistence which seems to deal with business rules. I expect to be sent
data from a screen and I would be doing necessary coding to make sure it
follows prescribed business rules.

Suzy:

OK, what areas are you most interested in? I myself would be interested in
making the product more accessible but those lurking on the fringe haven't
stepped up to offer ideas. Y'all know who you are, and if you don't soon I'll
not invite you to my next BBQ.

Hi Listers,

This is not a very active list. Since I am more on the receiving end, I'd like
more tips on Eclipse. I would also like to know if anyone knows of a blind
person who has taken any of the Java certification tests. I work for the United
States Department of Agriculture and management relies on a job applicant to be
Java certified to prove knowledge.

I've been subscribed for a few days, but I haven't seen any activity.
