Sorry, all, but I forgot to mention that I pasted that link to the ASCII
character set as a sort of indirect relation to Jim's issue since confirmed
that it was not what he is after, but Laura mentioned that she may have been
interested in a resource.  Here is an interesting discussion of escape

I don't think this will resolve the problem, Jim.  But, it is interesting
nonetheless and may serve as a nice reference in the future.
