Hi, I thought you were supposed to hybernate in winter. :) Jim From: program-java-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:program-java-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Corbett, James Sent: Monday, July 11, 2011 12:25 PM To: 'program-java@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: [program-java] Re: Eclipse: Preferences was Hello Ok, as for Spring or Struts they are just frameworks that you use as you are coding your Java app. Once you get your head into it you even forget that you are using them. EJB programming with Eclipse is a piece of pie and JSF (Java Server Faces) are components that make your interface pretty. My friends it's all just Java. I have an application that uses a JSP (a web page that is compiled), the frame work is Struts that magically by it's self takes the data from the form (JSP) plunks it into a bean and from my action class I pass it to my EJB which in turn talks to my backend. Reverse the process and my results get displayed on the JSP. We use JSF to make the web experience nicer for the folks that pay the bills. Before you get started, remember that the former is from my machine, you'll need to dig a bit. I haven't seen a file that contains the user defined preferences. Anyone out there willing to give this a shot? I'm stuck on 3.3 because later versions are not certified for use in this agency. Jim H. has been handling my tutorials and has liberty to change them to fit the newer versions so if you looked on his site you might be able to determine if the new changes affect us. This explanation is really encouraging, thank you. Please let me know if you can think of any basic comprehensive tutorials on those frameworks, I wish you wrote one. Once again, your basic Java tutorial is priceless. What you mentioned are only frameworks and very easy to learn. It's still Java 100 % with a few rules specific to the framework. My name is Anna. Several years ago I was an active Java learner, but the management moved me back to the COBOL project. Now they are moving me to the Java project assuming that working with COBOL strengthened my Java knoledge <grin> Even I don't remember much beyond basic Java concepts, I still should not fail their expectations, because...many of you might hear what's governor Christie is doing with NJ state employees. So I'm back to you, guys, if you don't mind. Jim, your tutorial is invaluable!!! The project I'll be working on uses Hibernate, Spring, and JSF frameworks. Is it something learnable?
