Anyway, while I thought I was going to be uninspired for awhile I came
up with the enclosed five additional patches.

They're pushed now.

ps. The newlib build system may need attention.  Unlike master, I can't
do a 'make dist' on a newly configured branch.  I must do a vanilla
'make' first and then the 'make dist' lest I get a po4a error.

Strange, I tried it here. make clean ; configure ; make dist
worked fine. Do you have po4a? Maybe its to do with the version.

po4a is quite annoying because it mixes updating the po files with making
the man pages together and its very fiddly to fix that.
