[powerdot] onslide and minipage

I've just started using powerdot, having used ppower4 for years. I'm trying to replicate one of my ppower4 seminars (see below*).

I'm sorry if the following is a FAQ, but I haven't located the FAQs yet.

My understanding of \onslide is that pic.eps in the code below should appear first on the slide, and then stay there. But in fact it appears last. Am I misunderstanding \onslide, or is there some clash between \onslide and the minipage environment? (And, if the latter, is there another way to achieve the end result?)
