Dear Yogeshwarsing,

'Variable Page Size' is an options inside Ghostview when using 'convert' with
pdfwrite (which uses ps2pdf)

You can also directly use ps2pdf YYY.ps YYY.pdf to get the correct result.

Best regards,

Patrice

TexLive)

Thank you very much for all your responses for helping me solve this problem
that has been bugging me since 2009!

As Herbert Voss just pointed out, the 'nopsheader' was the culprit.
Otherwise I can keep everything else in the \documentclass. Thank you Fabrice
for arriving at the same conclusion. Have no idea why I kept
'nopsheader': It just stayed there since I first learned powerdot in
2008 and as it was working fine with TL 2008, I never thought of removing it
later.

Yes it is now working well also with TL 2011 (I have just updated everything
from CTAN yesterday).

I use WinEdt and there is no 'variable page size' but it is now just a matter
of playing with the options in WinEdt until I get the desired page layout.

And my best wishes to you all for a great new year 2012.

Kind regards,
Yogeshwarsing
