Would it work well with Isadora and a midi and a manual circuit? If so, I may
have use for it, once I rehab my dance pod (a mobile stage and dwelling i made,
of which one of its functions was specifically for multi media dance
installations that require a prolonged set up, which i last did in grad school
and will do again this fall). I have an installation in which I want to add
deconstructed lenses, if such a thing could work….

Viv's idea about Seattle Recreative sparked a thought. Some maker community
might find a use for that lens assembly. If nobody at Vashon MakerSpace has a
thought, someone there would very likely know of some folks on the mainland
that might be interested. I'd be surprised if it would be possible to
control the circuits in the assembly with a Raspberry Pi or some such, but
what do I know?!

Rondi, even though that is for a digital camera, Shot On Film in Lake City
may have a use for it. Another fascinating store that may be happy to take
it is Seattle Recreative. Artist frequent the space looking for all sorts
of things to use in art. Lastly, I wonder if Morgan Brigs or any of the
other island artists who do interesting creative pieces would have any use
for it. It seems like it could have a lot of interesting parts if someone
wanted to dismantle it.

A purpose-fit lens for an all-in-one camera is pretty much useless unless
it's mounted on the exact same camera for which it's designed.
Obviously, it's a different situation from a changeable lens that mounts
on a DSLR body. Also, I think this part is much more than a lens. There's
a lot of mechanism in there to open those protective covers and deploy
the lens by extending it when the camera is turned on. And motor-driven
zoom. This is why that flex ribbon of circuitry is attached.
You could try to sell it as a part on eBay. But it's not going to draw
much money and may not be worth the effort to put it up online. Here are
some eBay listings for similar lenses, listed as repair parts for the
RX100.

The lens you have is for the earliest, original version of the camera,
maybe a decade ago.

Hi Rondi,
I thought it looked kinda familiar so it wasn't hard to find online.
It appears to be a lens from an early model Sony DSC RX100, my much
loved choice for a camera to take on my long treks. Pocketable but
very good quality. I think this is from the first model and they are
now up to Mark VII. In fact, I just bought the newest one to replay my
Mark III.
Here's a link to the B and H Photo page where you can see the lens on
the camera:
https://bityl.co/CGcP
The numbers on the front of the lens are the f stop and zoom range.
It's f/1.8 - 4.9. The zoon is 10.4 - 37.1 mm, the equivalent given its
sensor size to a 28 - 100 lens on a full frame.
All the best,

Hi everyone,
I have no idea how I ended up with this small Carl Zeiss lens. Here
are three shots, what would you do if you had such an item? Is it of
any use whatsoever?
