Field Trip Reports
On March 26,2022 4 People went on the Dr Wagner's Honey Island Swamp Tour. The
excessive raining along the Pearl River drainage system had caused the water
level in the swamp to be about 3 feet higher than normal. We were treated to a
fast boat ride out on the river, seeing alligators, raccoons and lots of
waterfowl especially Black-bellied Whistling Ducks. Louisiana Irises and other
early blooming plants like the native Azaleas were showing off their beauty.
Attending on the trip were myself, Mike Morgan, Kathy and Rina Edwards
The April trip to Dauphin Island was windy for Thursday and Friday, not much
birdwise, a couple of Hooded Warblers followed us around Shell Mound. Saturday
was much better starting at the Airport, Reddish Egret, Clapper Rail, Little
Blue Heron and other waders put on a show. Later at the lake in the Audubon
sanctuary we had a small fallout of Eastern Kingbirds, in all we wound up with
76 species at our compilation party in Cadillac Square Par,. another 9 species
were added the next day.Attendees were Jim and Dee Bishop, Diane Lafferty
myself and Anita Morgan, and Grayson and Jane Rayborn who contributed a lion's
share of bird species after driving over on Saturday and Sunday!

All,
I’m in the process of creating the May Pine Warbler. I need your help. If you
have anything you would like to see in this issue, please let me know. This
issue gives a preview of whatever activities we might have planned (or want to
plan) for the time between our May meeting and our September meeting. I will
include the schedule for the monthly lagoon surveys and dates for Keg & Barrel
get-togethers, but would like to include any other summer activities with this
issue. Butterfly counts, field trips, whatever.
I have attached a copy of Page 1. Check to see if I got the officers and
committee assignments correct. Am I correct that the nominating committee was
composed of Diane, Larry Morgan, and Grayson?
Again, I’m looking for anything that any of you would like to be included in
this issue. I’m planning to get it published and distributed this coming
weekend.
Thanks for you input.
