I have just installed FreeBSD 4.2 onto a box, installed apache 1.3.22 with dso support, installed php4.0.6 as dso, copied the library and added this into a file called php.ini... zend_extension="/usr/local/lib/php_accelerator.so" and the cache works fine. That makes FreeBSD 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 that I have tested, and all three work first time. There must be something in your configuration, or a confilct, somewhere that is causing this to break because they work on my servers, and on the clean installs I have tested on. This is a mystery...
