I don't know - I've wondered about that myself, and have never gotten around 
to trying it, which I guess would be the thing to do. It's possible that *nix 
installations will just ignore that directive, but maybe if you don't have the 
sendmail directive set it will fall back to it. Give it a shot - I'd be 
interested in what you find out.
