Rory,
What you emailed me is NOT a legal receipt. I could change the listed amount to
anything I want.
I gave you the proper forms, which I spent a lot of time and effort to research
and prepare for you. I don’t appreciate those efforts being disregarded.
Scanning and emailing the filled out forms as an uneditable pdf is OK by IRS
regulations. HOWEVER, as I told you in a previous email, you have to sign the
form. I would then hand out in person as many as possible at practice. Snail
mail those you can’t. Then scan and email the rest. I believe the personal
touch, by handing them out &/or snail mailing them, goes a long way towards
making people feel warm and fuzzy about helping us. I would only email as a
last resort.
As for donations from strangers, if they were in response to the November
appeal, then Margaret has already sent them a receipt/thank you letter. If they
gave at other times, then use the forms I gave for “friends.” That’s what those
are for.
How can you not know who gave what? Aren’t you scanning the donor checks before
depositing them?
Other forms: just need to redo the 1099s when the IRS forms arrive and send
them to the IRS with a 1096. I’ll let you know when I’ve received both forms.
Sorry, still no check from Jon. Maybe today. Mailman comes late in the
afternoon. I’ll email if I receive it.

Hi Linda,
As the person with the serious accounting chops, here is the latest
concerning our taxes.
I have sent email notices to most of our singing members. I am missing the
postal addresses for lots of us, and as you could see, I offered a written
receipt upon receiving the physical address by return email.
I wrote to everybody who contributed and sang except Martha Amesbury, Kathy
Reyering, and Victoria Rosenthal. I don't even have email for those three.
Also, the following didn't sing, so will receive a different notice that I
haven't sent yet.
Stephen Graves
Michael Hatem
Henry Warren
Sally Waite
We have also received other donations from "strangers" totalling $335.20 for
which I believe I have donor names but I'm not sure.
I'm on a bus right now on my way down to help Morgan in NYC. I'll get these
last few issues sorted out and get back to you later today. How are you
feeling?
Do you know what other tax forms we have to worry about?
Thank you.
Did the check come yet?????
Take care. What a great day.
