Different file types are different sizes even if the content is the same. A
picture in jpeg will generally be smaller then in bmp. If the file is a PDF
which generally is not a picture but words, it will be larger then a file that
is words but is a txt file. So knowing what the file is would help in ways to
make it smaller.
