Do you have win xp and do you create restore points? That is what I now do after I install or uninstall new programs thanks to the advice of someone on this list not long ago, in case of conflicts and things I can always go back to a previous state. I probably uninstalled my new verson zone alarm, set a restore point, and then did my scan and defrag which is what I had been trying to do in the first place.
