I finally got it fixed
I rolled back to my previous IE which was 5.5
that didn't seem to change anything thouogh, still couldn't even run the
update scan at the microsoft update site
put then after I reinstalled IE6 it worked and it showed that those updates
hadn't been installed yet
WHEW!  I was really happy, LOL
