Like to add my 2 cents It is not always essential to scandisk first (assuming your running 98 SE) but it is advisable. I would also like to mention, just in case it hasn't been) always shut down everything but the systray and explorer. Be sure to check the windows menu bar to make sure. Also shut off the screen saver as it can and will interrupt the scandisk and defrag. well got that off my chest. Life is what happens in between plans. I myself do it about once a week, and have the computer do it automatically while I sleep. If I forget, it doesn't matter, cause the computer is always on and its set to do a scan once a week. > If there's a problem on the drive, you'll usually get a notice if you try to defrag that you should scandisk first. > > ::: Troth ::: > ______________________ > ICQ: 1717439 > MSN: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxxxx > Yahoo IM: SirTroth > AIM/AOL: SirTrothX > ______________________ > > > ::: Original Message > ::: Sent Sun, 4 Jan 2004 21:16:48 EST by Poppy0206@xxxxxxx > | Is it essential to do a scan disk before degrag.
