Sometimes common sense. Sometimes luck. Sometimes you don't. That's why you use your recycle bin.... just in case. You can do a google search on the filename and learn a lot about it. You can post a filename here and ask. Search your registry for the filename and see what calls it and where it looks for it. Personally, I don't worry about duplicate files except in my photo collections that I share in various Yahoo and Google groups. But I have over 300GB of disk space and a DVD burner.
