Almost every download site has reviews posted by either professional
reviewers or by real live users.

Search on this:

+Freeware+shareware+download

You will get over 12,000,000 hits but the first 20 or 30 should provide
enough links to research what you need to know.

Visit some of the download sites, search for duplicate detectors (typically
under something like PC>software>utilities>disk (or file) management.

Visit the products home website if one is linked to. Read about the
product, its features and its limitations. Go back to the download site and
read the product descriptions and available reviews.

Repeat that process until you decide which duplicate detector will do what
you want it to do and will work on your system and gets good quality
reviews.

You might decide to download 3 or 4 and try them out yourself before
deciding which one you want.
