That is one thing I did when I bought my laptop in october. It came with 2 sticks of 256. I upgraded to 1 stick of 512. So now, for less money, I can buy a stick of 512 to put in my 2nd slot. All of this discussion is making me think I should just find out what type of memory it is, price it now to see if I can get a good deal on it! I know that I want to buy one at some point soon anyway! For instance, my Dell has two slots and holds a gig. When I got it, there was one stick of 128 MB in it. I immediately bought a 256MB stick and put in the empty slot. Soon after I got a good buy on another 256 MB stick and had to remove the 128 stick. I wish now that I had bought one 512 MB stick. Then later I could have bought another 512 and not wasted any. In general, I'd say buy RAM big single sticks.
