I started having trouble with spybot just recently. Used to all the time and
then it seemed to clear up for months. Problem started again. I had to fuss
too much with it over and over so I dumped it. A now and then stickler
isn't bad but when it gets too incessant, now that just goes too far.

Do you have the latest version installed?

The problem you are describing is a common problem some people are hit =
with. If you haven't tried yet, completely uninstall it, then reinstall =
it.

Also... be aware that since it needs to check online for updates, you =
need to make sure nothing is blocking it without giving you notice (for =
example, ZoneAlarm, or another Firewall). Shut them off temporarily and =
see if you can update.
