As far as I know, XP only comes with Alexa, not Backweb. I have a preinstalled OEM XP, though, so I'm not sure. Maybe someone with a retail XP package can help. The advice still holds true, I just can't tell you what program has it imbedded within it. Usually Backweb comes tied to support and help because most users, even experienced, are loathe to uninstall such "helpful" utilities. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ On 3/16/2003 at 11:37 AM a whisper was heard, and the one known as Hotredlips779928@xxxxxxx was rumoured to have uttered.... | In a message dated 3/16/2003 10:44:40 AM Eastern | Standard Time, | nunyabidness6@xxxxxxxxx writes: | | | > | > | > On my HP I had to uninstall HP Center first, then do the mop | up. I | have xp home version. I still got one pop up message today, | happened when I | tried to forward an email. When I first booted my pc p today | had a few | different error messages but like a dummy I did not write them | down, but | concerned backweb and I believe needing a file. I do not have | a Hewlard | Packared computer and do not know what HP center is so do not | know what | support type program to look for. Next time I see error | messages or pop up | messages though I will write them down. | | Still mystified on this backweb stuff.. I had run regiclean | though last week | and deleted a file that had backweb name associated with it, I | hope I did not | delete something that I needed on here. | | cristy. | | | To unsub or change your email settings: | //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk | | To access our Archives: | http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ | //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ | | For more info: | //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk ********* And So It Was *********** To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/ For more info: //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/list?list_id=pctechtalk
