Is the built in router wireless? If so skip the Linksys. Let her connect
wireless and you plug into it. Unless Verizon sticks it to you and doe not
provide Ethernet ports on the built in router.

If you have an empty USP port you can buy a wireless adapter to plug in. I
did that for my desktop in NC and it works great.

Has a router and I can and have put it in Bridge Mode no problems .. have
called Verizon Tech and they are just plain useless .. I am sure I will get
it again when I have time off .. I have hers and mine networked no problem
it's just that she has the Wireless PCI card cause I don't have an open slot
so I need to hard wire into the modem therefor needing to get the modem
working through the router :p ...
RecklessMaverick wrote: Does the Westell 6100 have a built in router? If so,
you can ask Verizon how to disable it so you can use the Linksys router
instead. If not, or once disabled, it should be a simple hookup. 1.Turn off
both computers 2.Turn off modem and router If modem has a backup battery
inside you will press its reset button in another step instead. Wait at
least15 minutes (do steps 3,4 &5 and find a portable drive for step 9 while
you wait) 3.Connect Ethernet cable from your computer to the router.
4.Connect the Verizon cable to the "Internet" port (may be labeled as WAN)
onthe router 5.Turn on your computer 6.Press the modem reset button if modem
has a battery 7.Turn on the router. Wait till they both get reset/powered up
and functioning... may take a few minutes 8.Confirm network and internet
function on your computer 9.Find the Add a Computer to the Network utility
onyour computer. Follow the simple steps to write the network and router
information to a portable/external drive or memory card. 10.Take the
portable/external drive to your GF's computer plug it in and start her
computer. 11.Run the small .exe file written to the portable drive. 12.Click
the network icon in the sys tray to find your network available and tell it
to connect. DONE This whole process should take less than 30 minutes or so.
If that doesn't work, call Verizon tech support. They may need to reset the
modem from their end or troubleshoot to find a problem. -----Original

Whatwe are trying to do now is take the Verizon westell 6100 modem out of
theliving room (connected to her XP machine) and move it into the "Man Room"

afew days last week until one of our cats knocked a wire loose and it reset
itself . I understand bridge mode and so on .. My Question is this; do All
the PC's involved and router have tobe off when I hook the modem up ?? Also,
about how long once I hook the modem to router and turn on the PC's should
wireless internet work on her machine ?? I went through all the same steps I
did before yesterday and neither PC had internet and after 15 minutes (yes I
have a patience problem) I gave up . lol Thanx for your Help All .
