XPS is M$'s XML Paper Specification, part of their "next generation print
path" marketing concept, and is basically a zipped XML file. It is designed
(in theory) to integrate document creation and viewing, primarily in Windows
Vista (shudder). It is also designed to cut down on the size of Office
files, which are notoriously larger than other office suites' files, largely
due to the massive amount of metadata contained in M$ files.

BTW: Is the OS that you are running some version of Vista?

I was not trying to save. I wanted to print. It opened a save dialog box
that no option to save as. It apparently wanted me to save the JPG as an
XPS before it would consider printing it.

I don't want any part of that XPS stuff. Neither does my Mom. We both have

far too many JPGs to have to convert them in order to print them.
