Static, not animated.

Mystery indeed, but I definately know it related to Active..
Thanks,

Well... the only thing I can think of for now is disabling active desktop
all together, as that would get rid of the boxes. But, with Webshots, you
need it on, correct? Maybe there's a setting in the Webshots software?
With
Webshots, are they just static wallpapers? Or, are they animated?

No, when I got my Dell about three weeks ago, they never were transparent.

I understand once you activate Active Desktop, by putting something on it
from the web....(picture, etc.)
i.e., right clicking and hit 'add to desktop'....this activates the Active
Desktop.

I'm familiar with Active Desktop, because with my old 98 computer, I had
to
installed Active Desktop.
Maybe I am stuck with these ugly little boxes, until Microsoft comes up
with

a solution!!!
Whatca think??!!

Yes that's the problem I am having.

and no is isn't checked. From what I understand on the Microsoft website, it has something to do with

Active Desktop.
Once you activate Active Desktop, no telling how you can get the
transparency to work.
Appreciate your help.
It wouldn't be such a problem having those little annoying boxes, but I
use
'Webshots' wallpaper...
and the scenes are gorgeous!
Thanks,

Dorie

Dorie... if the problem you're having is what's in the nixsoftware.com
screenshots, then try this...

Right-click on the desktop and select PROPERTIES. Click on the DESKTOP
tab.
Click CUSTOMIZE DESKTOP on the bottom. Click on the WEB tab. On the
bottom,
where it says LOCK DESKTOP ITEMS, is it checked? If it is, that's what's
causing the box around the icon titles. Uncheck it, hit OK and then
APPLY
then OK again. Assuming this is the problem, it should now be rectified.

Let me know if it cleared it, as I am still researching.
:o)
