Linda,

I followed the SFC directions to the tee. It asked for the name of the file
to be replaced (windows\system\msvcp60.dll) next step where was the file to
use as a replacement (download\dll). Everything looked good but the
computer's notice said: could not find file be certain the path was
correct. The file is definitely in the download\dll folder.

What can I do to get the computer to see & use it as a replacement?

Jan

Go to Start>Run and type SFC

In here you have a choice to have Windows check all of your system files
and let you know which ones have been changed or corrupted and you can
replace them (but this is NOT advised since SFC will often replace files
that should NOT be replaced).....SFC gives you another choice to replace
just one specific file that you know is bad....this is the only way I
use SFC

My OS is windows 98. you did a good job leading me down the Dos path.
Before I go that way can one of you tell me about System File Checker?
