They were all .jpg files. Sorry, thought I said that in my original post. I
am strongly thinking it was just some anomaly and absolutely nothing to worry

Do you remember what type of files they were, as in, what was the file
extension on them? If you know the file extension and can figure out from that
what type of file it was and/or what program made it, that might help you
figure out where they came from and where they went.
