 Judith,

Click, start, run, type msconfig in the box. Click OK. Will bring up box
that has a startup tab.

I knew this on Win 98 but dang if I can find in Win XP Home.

How do I find out what programs start up when Win is first
turned on -- in other words what is running in the background so
they can be changed.

My daughter wants to know this and I thought I knew but dang I
don't. I checked help but I am not asking the right thing I
guess. Her machine is really slow booting up and she wants to
remove stuff in start-up menu to the minimum.

Win 98 -- all I had to do was press Ctrl, Alt, Del but not in
Win XP.
