I have not had Norton for many years.  I have Recycle Bin on my desktop as 
it has been since I began using a computer in 1998. The Recycler has just 
appeared in the past month or so.  I first discovered in my F Drive where I 
put my backups.  I reasoned that anything that was in the backup drive was 
expendable!  When I dug around to see what was in there I found some files 
that I had recently deleted from My Documents.  Those are the ones I deleted 
again.
I do thank you for responding and I will just leave well enough alone since 
they seem to be doing no harm.
