Beverly, No more questions, Luv. I have been avoiding this last step in an effort to allow you to keep QuickTime for other things. However, since QT seems so bent on holding your multimedia freedom hostage, I now see no other choice but to give it a swift kick in the uninstall. You've already said that you're not exactly married to the program, so here's how to blast the pesky beast to Smithereens, wherever THAT is. Go to Start > Run, type in 'appwiz.cpl' without the quotes and press Enter. This will open the 'Add or Remove Programs' applet. After some time, a list of all of your installed programs will appear. Scroll down, if necessary, until you see the QuickTime listing (it may say "Quicktime for Windows" or something similar). Click on it and then click on the Remove button. If it gives you any choices, pick the one that will eject it from your computing universe. When it has finished cleaning house, all of these QT entries should be gone from both Firefox and IE. If QT is not smart enough to return some of these associations to their previous owners (the programs that used to open them before QT came to town), it may take just a little more tweaking to get everything working the way you want. But that will be much simpler than all that you've gone through with QT. This is the most drastic step one can take when dealing with these types of things, but if the "helper" application is hindering instead of helping, it's time to get out your Donald Trump wig and tell it "You're Fired!". :OD Peace, G "The only dumb questions are the ones that are never asked" ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beverly Hahn" <bhahn@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: <pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, May 08, 2008 8:56 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Quick Time > Addendum: > I tried to open my puzzle file in IE, as I have been doing > successfully. Now I have two Shockwave Flash Objects in my > Firefox Manage area--one with the SWF and open with Shockwave > Flash.Shockwave Flash and the other with SPL and open with Shochwave > Flash (only once).
